NEW MUSE Presents: Madison Muse Fest Muse Fest 2012 will be a day to celebrate Madison’s rich cultural legacy in music, dance, theater and visual art. Sponsored in part by the 2011 UW-Madison Arts Enterprise New Arts Venture Challenge, we will work closely with local vendors to transform the downtown Madison area into an inviting space for Dane County residents and visitors to enjoy presentations of local art and to partake in what businesses have to offer. This one-of-a-kind event will feature works by leading up-and-coming composers from across the county, starting with a NEW MUSE-led flash mob at the Farmer’s Market, continuing throughout the afternoon as pedestrians are invited to navigate through five multidisciplinary music installations inside State Street businesses, and culminating in a showcase gala concert in the lobby of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. |

We are thrilled to partner with the gorgeous new Madison Children’s Museum, where we will combine music-making with storytelling. NEW MUSE is performing Francis Poulenc’s classic The Story of Babar; this time we are adding another layer of interaction by collaborating with the audience, who will be invited to act out the “story” of the music during the performance, or write down a story, picture, or use the space to move as the music compels them. In other words, we will offer a chance to re-connect music with the other creative processes that give wonder to the experiences of childhood. This event is FREE with regular museum admission. | |||
